Random Photos

Some random photos of how I passed the time in the hospital.

Before my water unexpectedly broke I had been planning on getting a hair cut a few days later (I was already a month overdue).  After 4 weeks in the hospital I was dying!  I complained to one of my awesome night nurses and she said she knew just the thing!  One of the night techs cut hair for a living and she said she'd love to cut mine.  She came into my hospital room and gave me this cute hair cut with scissors (she keeps in her pocket) and random tools she was able to find in the hospital. What a fun night!
To pass the time I did a lot of sudoku, watched movies, wrote in my journal, etc. but my very favorite thing to do was this cross-stitch for my dear Gideon.  I worked on it a little every day and finished it only days before he was born (I later added his name, birth date, and birth weight).  I hadn't cross-stitched for 18 years, but I loved it.  Even though I had to unpick things a lot it gave me something to do and create for my baby and it gave me a goal-  he couldn't be born until I finished his cross-stitch!
I was in the hospital for 3 holidays- St. Patrick's Day, Easter, and April Fools. We did some fun things for those holidays.  This was my Easter decoration from home that my husband brought me to cheer me up.  My Mom also brought me some preemie clothes for when Gideon was born.  The clothes were hung right before the bunny head and this is what it became!  I couldn't help but smile at that silly bunny every day.
We did an Easter egg hunt in my room on Easter.  The nurses were also super nice and hid eggs and an Easter basket for my son out in the labor and delivery floor (I was the only one there that day!)  We had a fun and silly time and I even got to watch him hunt for eggs while sitting in a wheel chair.
For April Fool's day I painted this on my tummy then covered it up with my hospital gown.  When the morning nurse came in to put my monitors on she screamed!  Lol! What a funny day. She couldn't get over it all day and kept telling everyone.
My room was decorated in such fun and happy ways by my many visitors- but mostly by my sister and my son.  My sister told me to learn Spanish while I was in the hospital and put Spanish words all over the room.  Do I know Spanish now?  No, but I can tell you about 10 words! My son also would draw me pictures when he came to visit and we'd put them up on the wall. Each picture was some version of Mario and Luigi.  Next to the Mario/Luigi picture there is a whole wall full of inspirational quotes that were given to me by my awesome nurses.
This was also given to me by my nurses.  I got back from an ultrasound and it was on my bed.  At first I didn't know what to think.  Was this some cancer patient or something??  Then I realized it was Brittany Spears. Haha!  Those ladies cracked me up!
My son loved sitting next to me in bed and reading stories or making the bed go up as high as it could.  He thought it was fun, but I thought it was scary :)
Meet Ivy. This is my ivy plant my other sister brought to me.  She hung it on my IV pole since I didn't need one any more. I loved looking at my IV (IVY) and it brought smiles to any who came to visit.
My sister also made this sign which we would have all our visitors sign.  I loved looking at that and it always made me feel so loved- especially during the lonely and hard times.
Our count-up!  We made a star for every day I was in the hospital and my son would add one every day. It was fun to see the stars get longer and longer.
I also had my nurses sign my mug.  It got pretty covered by the end.
This is Gideon's sign we put in his NICU "room" to add some color.
Flowers were always fun and I loved my essential oil diffuser.  Whenever people would come in they'd comment on how nice it smelled. My favorites were lavender, orange, and peppermint.
Blokus kept me and my family entertained when they would visit.
A favorite picture that people like of Gideon. He was twice as big as an iPhone and look how huge that binkie is on him!
